About Salvation
In John 3, a man named Nicodemus came to Jesus at night and they had a conversation about salvation. Jesus explained to him what a person must do to receive salvation.
Jesus told him in order to receive salvation one must be born again of water and of Spirit, (a lot of Christians call this experience being “born again”)
Being born of water and of Spirit is simple.
To be born of the water: Each believer must be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost as prescribed in the Bible: Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38 and John 3:5. The name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost is JESUS. EVERY believer must be baptized in the name of Jesus to be saved.
Being reborn of the Spirit is simple too, it means receiving the Holy Ghost. One receives the Holy Ghost by asking God for this free gift He has offered to all of us. The Holy Ghost is God’s Spirit which dwells inside of Christians. His Spirit is what gives us the power to overcome sin and totally surrender our lives to Him. God gives His Spirit freely to anyone who is honestly seeking Him. According to the Bible, you'll know you've been filled with the Holy Ghost when you speak in tongues-a language that you have not spoken before. God's Spirit will give you this ability.(Joel 2:28-29, Acts 2:4)
So it’s simple, in order to receive salvation, one must be honestly seeking God, willing to turn away from their previous lifestyle (repent), be baptized in the name of Jesus, filled with the Holy Ghost and live in the will of God. Whew! It’s a total sacrifice a worth every minute.
Nicodemus came to Jesus privately and personally, he asked Jesus questions. I recommend that you do the same. Go to Jesus privately and personally, ask Him your questions don’t rely on what others or traditions say, ask Jesus yourself. He’s available to you too, through prayer.
